A warm welcome to the very many new subscribers to The Radio Edit - over 100 have singed up since the publication of The 51st State (more on that below). I’ve not published an article since, as I’ve been pretty busy having taking on a leadership role with the Organization for Recorded Culture and Arts (ORCA). ORCA is a think tank and advocacy group founded and funded by fourteen of the world’s best-known independent record labels, defined by their willingness to take risks and invest in artists for the long term. I’m excited to get stuck in: we will soon publish ORCAs second report, an analysis of the economic and social impact of independent labels, based on data from some of ORCA’s supporters. You can follow ORCA on Linkedin, on instagram @orcaformusic and on Substack, (ORCA ). Nothing published on the Substack yet, but keep your eyes peeled.
